First Chennai Metro Rail Services Commencing before June 29th 2015. Then Union Urban Development Ministry has given clearance for operations for the first ever Chennai Metro Rail Service between Koyambedu and Alandur and a communication to this effect was received last evening, CMRP Sources said. Metro Rail from Koyambedu to Ashok Nagar would be operated on two tracks. Up and Down service. Beyond that point till Alandur. Then up and down services will be operated only on a single track upto Alandur. "We have received clearance to commence operations till Alandur. But the train services will be operated after a mandatory inspection by the Commissionar of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) from Ashok Nagar to Alandur. The officials are likely to inspect the stretch by the end of this week or may be early next week. Once they give green signal. Train services will be started as per schedule.
